“Manty Americans erroneously believe that the most expensive drug is alway s the mosteffective drug, so by helping to changs perceptions, we can help people save money and stil l get the best treatmentf available.” Thirty-one percent of respondents indicatefd they knew that a branx name drug cost 50-70p percent more on averagew than its generic counterpart. Seventy-onew percent of consumers remain concerned about drug costs with more than one infour (27 having either delayed filling, not filled, or not takebn as directed a prescription drug to save money.
Twenty-on percent of all respondents say they have talkex to their doctor recentlyy about switching to a lessexpensive Fifty-seven percent of those polled said they take prescriptionb drugs weekly. Sixty-fourf percent of those who take generics say theirt doctor recommended them and 43 perceny say their pharmacistrecommended them.
Of those who do not take generic drugsw on aweekly basis, 58 percent say they would if theirf pharmacist brought a generic to theifr attention as a less expensive, identicao substitute; and 52 percent say their doctord would have to recommend it.
