California settles with Kmart, sues Target - Los Angeles Business from bizjournals:

The state’s attorney general, Jerry Brown, joined 20 districgt attorneys and the Los Angeles City filed a suitagainst Minneapolis-based Target (NYSE: saying it sent hazardous wastwe to various landfills in violation of state law. The suit is meanr to stop the practices. In news reports, Target said it has been cooperatin withthe AG’s office for three years on this matter and that it is committedx to complying with all environmentalk laws.
According to court papers, Target has 180 including storesand warehouses, in Among the alleged incidents named in the suit was a Marcnh 2009 instance of a San Bernardino County Targeg store sending a photo-processing unit with toxic liquidd and other hazardous materials to a locakl landfill not authorized to receive such Separately, Brown and the Riverside, Ventura and San Joaquin County districg attorneys settled a similar dumping suit with for $8.656 million.
