The $30 million, 53,000-square-foot Daytona Beach venuer has been awarded LEED gold certificatio from the United Statezs GreenBuilding Council. Daytona Beach is the firsty gaming facility in the country to achieve the LEED gold It is also the first LEED certified projecg in the City of Daytona Beach and surroundintVolusia County. “The Daytona Beach Kennel Club Poker Room is setting new standards in regardc to environmental construction and saidJim Houser, Delawaree North vice president of facilities. “We’re extremelhy proud of this achievement and believe it provea ourenvironmental capabilities.
” The venue opened last year and was constructes under the guidelines of Delaware North’xs GreenPath standards for environmentally-friendly Among the standards: • The complex features roof top solatr panels to help heat water, making the buildinyg 25 percent more energy • Various water efficiency toolz were installed that help save nearlu 350,000 gallons of water annually. Hybrid cars and those who car pool get preferreeparking spots. Delaware North is working on other LEED certification projects for many of its venues includingv the Tenaya Lodgein California.
