Martek (NASDAQ: MATK) expects the appeal will take one to two year s and said it does not believe the ruling will impactfits revenue. Derived from algae, the company’s nutritiona oils are also used in dietary supplementsa andfood products, such as yogurty and juice.
The companyy has been aggressively expanding its infant formula business overseas as it has nearly saturatedcthe U.S. market. Martek warned in its last earnings statemenrt that its infant formula salews in the third and fourth quarter could drop as retailers trim theidr inventories ofthe product. The company anticipates demanx will pick up infiscal 2010.
