The firm moved into abouyt 180,000 square feet on six floors in One Arts Plazz inJuly 2008. LEED is a voluntary systemj forcertifying high-performance green Some of Thompson & Knight’s effortsd toward the LEED silver certification include diverting 51 percent of construction waste from using energy management systems, and using special paint, sealants, carpet and wood that emit if any, contaminants.
Thompson Knight also created a progranm to educate occupants about green buildingconstructionj methods. The certification is the firsft of its kind awarded to a law firm in the statdeof Texas, according to a news release from the law “Thompson & Knight has historically been recognizecd for our representation of high-profil and innovative clients in the energy and environmenta l industries, so it is both gratifying and appropriate for the firm to have earnexd this certification,” M. Lawrence Hicks Jr., the firm’s administrative, said in a prepared statement.
