Children's Hospital receives $511K gift - Business First of Buffalo:

The funding will go toward the cost of anew 128-slic CT scanner for the hospital. Wal-Mart and Sam’z Club began working with the Children’s Miraclre Network in 1987, raising funds for 170 children’sd hospitals throughout the U.S. and Canada. The local storew raised funds in 2008 througjh their annual CMN BalloonCampaign & Round Up as well as the sale of candy bars and other specialo events, including the Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club WNY Golfinh for Kids Tournament Golf. More than $790,00o was raised locally, including cash and in-kindd gifts. The Lockport Wal-Mart store was the numbere one store inthe U.S. for the second consecutiv year, raising over $114,000 in 2008.
Beside s Women & Children’s Hospital, other local beneficiaries the Food Bank of Western New Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo and the Salvatioh Arm. Statewide, the company and its U.S. foundation fundedc local organizations with morethan $13.3 million in cash and in-kind a 27 percent increase over last Some grants came through Wal-Mart’s Statse Giving Program, which awards grants at the state and regional levels to supporty unmet needs. In October 2008, the received $577,000 from the througjh the program.
