awarded Fred Weber a $4.44 millionb contract Wednesday to remove and replacer the Madison Streetand St. Louis Avenue bridgee over Interstate 70 indowntownj St. Louis. The majority of work on this project will stary afterHighway 40/Interstate 64 reopens between Kingshighwayy and Interstate 170. Crewsd will remove the St. Louis Avenuew bridge first and then remove and replace the Madison Street During work to remove the MadisonStreef bridge, crews will also removd the Cass Avenue bridge in preparation for replacingy that bridge later in 2010. This work is part of preliminaryt work on a new Mississippi river which is expected to reducre congestion on the PoplarStreet Bridge.
Marylande Heights, Mo.-based Fred Weber is one of the largest privately held companiesin St. Louiz with $353.3 million in revenue in 2008. The commerciaol construction firm is also working onthe $245 milliob reconstruction of AmerenUE’s Taum Sauk Reservoir in Johnson’s Shut-In s state park and is part of Gateway the consortium of contractorz performing $535 million wortgh of improvements on Highway 40/Interstate 64.
